Top Summer Book List for 2025

Summer is the best time to read a great book! Whether you're lounging on a beach or hanging out in the yard, if you've got a good book, it's easier to enjoy life. Not sure what book to choose? Below are some light-hearted beach reads that you can take with you anywhere.

1. Funny Story, by Emily Henry

Emily Henry's fun, light characters make great reading for anyone who wants to enjoy a romantic plot line. "Funny Story" delivers as it follows Daphne and Miles, whose exes are dating each other. Daphne and Miles move in together and hatch a plan to sow jealousy among their exes. Of course, living together throws Daphne and Miles into some interesting situations, and sewing jealousy turns out to be a little more complicated than they had anticipated.

You'll love the twists and turns the story takes, as well as the funny jokes and enjoyable characters. "Funny Story" is a great book for anyone who has ever been dumped.

2. The Paradise Problem, by Christina Lauren

Anna and Liam were at one time married, so they could access family student housing on their college campus. When college was over, they went their separate ways. Fast-forward five years, and it turns out...they're still married, and somehow, Anna doesn't even know it. Anna is an artist, and Liam is an heir to a large fortune. For reasons that are complicated, Liam needs them to stay married for a little while longer.

Now, Anna is back in Liam's life, and she has to attend a family wedding with him on a beautiful, isolated tropical island. "The Paradise Problem" is charming, funny, and difficult to put down.

3. Nora Goes Off Script, by Annabel Monaghan

Nora Hamilton is a divorced screenwriter who writes romance made-for-TV movies. Like everyone, she struggles with paying her bills and maintaining her home. She's feeling frustrated about the collapse of her marriage when she writes the best script of her life: one that tells her story. She's stunned when the script is picked up by Hollywood and one of the most famous actors on earth, Leo Vance, is cast to play her husband.

The movie is shot at her home. After the production crews leave...Leo Vance continues to hang around. The resulting book is hard to put down. Nora Hamilton is a relatable character who has something very unrelatable happen to her. If you've ever had fantasies about what would happen if you met a movie star, "Nora Goes Off Script" is for you.

4. Just for the Summer, by Abby Jimenez

Justin and Emma both have the same quirky problem. Every time they date someone, the person they break up with goes on to find their soulmate. Is it a curse? Maybe. To break it, Justin and Emma have decided they'll date each other, break up, and then go on to find their soul mates immediately after. It's supposed to be a quick fling, but it turns out that they're a better match for each other than they ever anticipated.

"Just for the Summer" is a part of a series of books that follow related characters as they pursue relationships. You don't have to read the other books in the series to enjoy this one, but if you're looking for more than one book to enjoy, start with "Part of Your World." You won't regret it.
